Soundgarden played its first show with new temporary drummer Matt Chamberlain on Thursday night (March 27th) in Lima, Peru, kicking off a series of South American dates. Chamberlain is sitting in for drummer Matt Cameron, who has bowed out of most of Soundgarden's 2014 activities due to previous commitments with Pearl Jam and a desire to spend more time with his family.
Soundgarden posted a message online just before launching the new tour, saying, "We’d like to officially welcome Matt Chamberlain who will be playing drums with us in South America, and for the summer. Can’t wait to see you all soon!”
Soundgarden will head out on a co-headlining tour of North America this summer with Nine Inch Nails, beginning on July 19th in Las Vegas.
