Chris Martinet started acting on stage, in corporate films and project films. Until one day, Chris walked in on a Super Mario audition in the 90's. They were already wrapping up, but gave him a chance.
Very briefly, they gave him some direction, "You're an Italian plumber from the Bronx in a video game, go."
So Chris took a different route than the stereotypical Italian from the Bronx and went lighthearted. He thought if it's a video game for kids, the voice should be pleasing to the ears for many hours of play through. And he's right, can you imagine Mario any other way?
And truthfully, this guy really, really loves his job and the franchise too.
Thanks for making Rhode Island ComicCon so much fun!!!! pic.twitter.com/iMGTy1R8wh— Charles Martinet (@CharlesMartinet) November 9, 2015
