Anxious about his future after high school, a 19-year-old Italian-American from Brooklyn tries to escape the harsh reality of his bleak family life by dominating the dance floor at the local disco.

August LoDa ArtWalk celebrates National Makeup Day and Back to School Day! Local makeup artists will do a “showcase” at Cathedral Square, featuring different types of makeup– everything from glam/beauty/wedding to Halloween/costume/etc. This event will highlight creatives within our community, including visual artists, musical performers, and local restaurants. CLICK HERE

Roll Mobile Year #2 is still going strong! Mobile Parks and Recreation is again turning the streets around Bienville Square into a huge, outdoor, roller skating rink! Enjoy an evening filled with the smooth sounds of yacht rock! Mobile Parks and Recreation is encouraging anyone who wants to dock their boat and tie off at Cooper Riverside Park to do so. Enjoy the sounds of Disco Kiss from land or sea as they play their decades of rock show. They will do three 45 minute sets, each one filled with music from a different decade. Bring your chairs, blankets, and snacks and meet us at the Coop for a night of music! CLICK HERE  

DAUPHIN ISLAND REGGAE WEEKEND- Sat 11am-6pm, Green Park, Dauphin Island

Dauphin Island again welcomes local and regional Reggae artists to their 6th Annual Reggae Weekend, featuring live music all weekend at venues around the island along with food and drink specials. The big event is Saturday; music by Gulf Coast favorite “Vibe Irie” from Pensacola and central Alabama Reggae Band “Culture Dread”. Caribbean D.J. “Rich Music” will be spinning great Calypso, Reggae and Soca tunes all day. There will be food trucks on site and a jerk chicken booth along with virgin Pina Coladas in coconuts or pineapple to help cool you down. All music events are FREE. CLICK HERE  

ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE- Fri/Sat 7:30pm; Sun 2pm, Joe Jefferson Playhouse, Mobile

The tropical island-set jukebox musical ‘Escape to Margaritaville,’ features more than two dozen old and new Jimmy Buffett songs. The show centers around a part-time bartender, part-time singer and full-time charmer who thinks he’s got life all figured out until a beautiful career-minded tourist steals his heart and makes him question everything.  CLICK HERE

End summer with a splash and join us for an evening of fun and excitement at our End of Summer Bash!

There will be kids crafts and activities like bubble machines and foam craft kits! Plus, lawn games for everyone to enjoy like Jumbo Connect4, Giant Checkers, Ladderball, Cornhole and sprinklers! There will also be an inflatable games station and water slide available for free! CLICK HERE
