CEOs you should know Tim Wills: Boys and Girls Club

Tim Wills was born in Ferguson, MO (Saint, Louis).The majority of Tim’s family resides in St. Louis. He graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, with a BA in Mass Communications, specializing in TV Broadcast News and Media Management.While attending SIU, Tim started Black Leaders Actively Communicating Knowledge, which was a student run newspaper.He also served as a senior leader in student government. Tim worked for the WSIU Television & Radio Stations as on-air talent doing human interest stories.It was during this time that he was introduced to Boys & Girls Clubs as he told stories on Boys & Girls Club members who were in foster care. Impressed with the organization Tim became a Club Volunteer and later a Board Member.Upon graduating, he started working for Boys & Girls Clubs. Tim returned to St. Louis working for the St. Louis Public School System as a Middle School Administrator.But he soon realized his passion was for Boys & Girls Clubs and returned to work for the organization in the Chicago, District of Columbia, and Harford County, MD areas. While in Harford County, Tim became a foster parent.In 2015, Tim spent time teaching on a VolunTourism trip to the beautiful country of Haiti, and fell in love with the country and its people.Because of his extensive experience in organizational transformation and increasing club membership and funding, Tim was named the fourth CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama in 2016. He leads six ‘year round sites, four summer programs, 150-acre campground and POINTE Academy, a school for adjudicated youth serving 3,600 youth. Tim is an active member of the Rotary Club and the Lions Club.
