Sad Day with the passing of local legend Hank Aaron

It's a sad day on the Gulf Coast when we heard of the passing of Hank Aaron, not only was he a baseball legend but a Mobile legend. I remember when I first moved to the area and saw Hank Aaron Stadium for the first time, I was incredibly proud to now be living in an area that was the native home for such a legend. Just in case you are unaware of his baseball accomplishments...

Aaron holds the record for the most All-Star Game selections and is tied with Willie Mays and Stan Musial for the most All-Star Games played. He was a Gold Glove winner for three seasons. In 1957, he was the NL MVP when the Milwaukee Braves won the World Series. He won the NL Player of the Month award in May 1958 and June 1967. Aaron holds the MLB records for the most career runs batted in, extra base hits, and total bases. Aaron is also in the top five for career hits and runs. He is one of only four players to have at least 17 seasons with 150 or more hits. Aaron is in second place in home runs and at-bats, and in third place in games played. At the time of his retirement, Aaron held most of the game's key career power hitting records.

I have no issues calling Hank Aaron the GREATEST OF ALL TIME! If there is are activities to do this weekend it would be to #1 read his autobiography "I Had A Hammer" & #2 watch the documentary "Hank Aaron: Chasing the Dream". I am sure we will never see the likes of Hank Aaron again. Our thoughts and prayers will remain with his family.
